To finish the procedure, the wound may be cleaned thoroughly with water, and the skin is closed with stitches. A bandage and splint is then applied. The splint is used to prevent excessive movement of the wrist, to protect the surgical site, and to promote healing. The splint is bulky and will cover your hand, wrist, and forearm.
At the end of the procedure, you will be awakened while still in the operating room and then transported to the recovery room.
