Carpal tunnel syndrome is a progressive condition affecting the hand and wrist. It is caused by a compression of the median nerve that gradually gets worse if left untreated. As the median nerve is squeezed, less blood and nutrients flow through it, causing pain, numbness, and weakness in the fingers and thumb.
